  Sample input:
TakeOffChars ( f1 ; 3 )

TakeOffChars ( f1 ; 1 )
  Sample output:
ThisFi (if "f1" is "ThisField")

Field, Fiel, Fie, Fi, F (sequence as backspace if "f1" is "Field")

Function definition: (Copy & paste into FileMaker's Edit Custom Function window)

I made this as a backspace script by using "1" as the CharAmount for a FileMaker Calculator, but it can be used for many things. To make a backspace, set a script to use "Insert Calculated Result" and use this as the calculation. Then set a button to the script.
