This function applies text formatting using a variable input field.

  Sample input:
Formatting ( "Hello, world!" ; "Bold+Underline" )
  Sample output:
Hello, world! (in bold+underline format)

  Function definition: (Copy & paste into FileMaker's Edit Custom Function window)

The Filemaker 7 function "TextStyleAdd ( text ; styles )" doesn't let you use a field (i.e., a variable) for the styles input; this Formatting function does. You can even use a checkbox-formatted field for the styles input.
