  Function definition: (Copy & paste into FileMaker's Edit Custom Function window)

Assign numbers 1 - 26 consecutively to the letters of the alphabet and then add the letters found in name D. Adams you will get 42 i.e.:

Input: D. A D A M S Results: 4 + 1 + 4 + 1 + 13 + 19 = 42

(Coincidentally, 42 is the "answer to the life, the universe, and everything", D(ouglas). Adams is the author of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy)
