Gets the strring to the left of the active selection text. If there is no selection, returns nothing

There a few typos in your CF.
You warned that this CF reqired a CF "GetSelectedText()", available here. That CF doesn't exist. However there is one called "getActiveSelection" that will work using your parameter.
In addition, the CF formula is not complete, as you used GetSelectedText without the parameter
